1) Call meeting to order 6:10pm
-Introductions – before 6-6:10pm (see # 4)

2) Motion:  Adopt agenda for session I
- Joanne – amendment – move to accept amendment - #7 special guest speaker from other student organizations

-motion: Seconded and passed
3) Motion:  Review and adopt minutes from GESSA General Meeting held April 22, 2009.
-Joanne puts forward motion, Rupinder seconds – passed on vote


4) Introduction to Executive Members (before start of meeting)

Jana - student advocacy officer

-2008 Oct

-role: to improve student experience – better/clearer communication, events, eco art show – engage FES community

Cory – external communications

-website/updates website

-coordinate website with events and listservs

-wants to know good study places and stuff: external@gessa.ca

Nina – secretary/internal

Bimal – treasurer

  • Distribute money evenly through groups

  • Bring people to meetings b/c we decide where the money goes

Joanne –chair

Adam – research and travel fund officer

  • Money for conferences, research expensive – see website to get fund/criteria

  • 3 application periods

Pinder – social officer

  • Plans the parties

  • Events, bring students together – get to know each other students and faculty

  • Wants new ideas for events

6) Discussion: GESSA Social Events
-Thurs Oct 8 PotLuck – 12-3pm, room 140

-Intro to Various groups

-Friday MES green roof tour, monarch at Kensington for pub night

Alex: MALOCA GARDENS

Jana – Hi Fyi (food)

-tracy filopee

- healthy kitchen, healthy food

- pay what you can

- local food, organic, creative with recopies

- coordinate with other groups to provide healthy food

- you cook a dish and bring on Thursday – donations are split for people who brought food for that day

- Don’t have to commit to cook food but can come to donate and eat, counts as participations

JANA

  • Coffee house event, about speaking with year 1-2, can someone help

  •  

JANA – resigns, her position will be open as of next GM – send nominations to cory
